"Use and Abuse of AS2870 in Building Disputes" by Eric Fox.

Eric Fox has been Chairman of the AS 2870 Residential slabs and footings Committee for almost 20 years.  He has provided forensic investigation and expert witness services in the field of residential footing movement for 30 years.  Eric’s presentation will address issues with the investigation of footing failures and common misconceptions of the Standard, particularly with respect to reliance on the Standard as evidence in legal proceedings.

Eric Fox is a consulting civil, structural and geotechnical engineer with an Australia-wide practice.  He is Chair of the Standards Australia committees for AS 4349 Inspection of buildings and AS 2870 Residential slabs & footings, and was engineering advisor to and a member of the committee responsible for writing Building Code of Australia Volume Two. He was Chair of the Standards Australia committee for the Structural performance code for housing and a Member of the committee responsible for the AS/NZS 1170 Loading codes.
