'Construction and Neighbour Risk: Common Law Variants' with Professor Philip Britton, Senior Fellow, University of Melbourne.

'Construction and 'Neighbour Risk: Common Law Variants' considers the many situations where construction on one plot of land  may infringe the rights of a neighbouring owner or occupier.

It asks: how, and how well, does the law strike a balance between development and neighbours' rights, with what conceptual tools, and what range of remedies does it  offer?

The talk will include a special focus on damage to buildings and  structures from construction work nearby – one of the most expensive  manifestations of 'neighbour risk'; and draws contrasts between the law in the  different jurisdictions of Australia and other common law systems.
